We tell you in first person about this amazing story and let your mind fly to places, characters and situations to form a biography about this authentic guitar hero.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/3-c1-tdOFOc\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<h2>\u00a0First Riffs of Danny B Harvey<\/h2>\n<p>I was born in <strong>Killeen<\/strong>, a place about 80 miles from <strong>Austin, Texas.<\/strong> I soon left this peaceful place. My family moved to <strong>Catlettsburg, Kentucky,<\/strong> at just six years old. There, I discovered sounds that would be part of my life and I started playing the guitar.<\/p>\n<p>Surrounded by <strong>country, rock or blues,<\/strong> the sounds of the southwest were inserted in my brain. That&#8217;s when I discovered the music of my idols <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Joe_Pass\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Joe Pass<\/a> and <strong>Merle Travis<\/strong>. In <strong>Los Angeles<\/strong>, I studied the finger picking style. It was a dream to receive my first classes with the great <strong>Joe Pass<\/strong>. He was a very nice guy. His classes were fascinating and the memories were unforgettable.<\/p>\n<p>We improvised, we listened to old jazz records and talked about music. The big city overwhelmed me. That&#8217;s why I decided to make a name for myself as a guitarist and look for my future in the powerful and thriving <strong>Rockabilly<\/strong> scene in the <strong>United Kingdom.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In <strong>England,<\/strong> in the early eighties, there was a resurgence of <strong>Rockabilly.<\/strong> It was a phenomenon that had been incubating since the early 1970s and broke out with the creation of the <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Levi_and_the_Rockats\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Levi &amp; the Rockcats<\/a> in 1977.<\/p>\n<h2>Danny B Harvey in the UK<\/h2>\n<p><strong>Levi<\/strong>, the leader of the <strong>Rockats<\/strong>, lived in the early 80&#8217;s in the US, where he could find the sound that fascinated him so much and he was noticed with tours throughout the country and television appearances. I met him in Los Angeles and a special chemistry emerged. At that time, <strong>Levi<\/strong> had left the <strong>Rockats<\/strong>. I joined his new band, the <strong>Ripchords,<\/strong> and went to <strong>London. I then began a fascinating time in my life with<strong> Barry Ryan, Mike Osborn, Smutty Smith and Dibbs Preston<\/strong> in <strong>NYC.<\/strong> When I arrived to the<strong> Rockats,<\/strong> we didn\u00b4t have a label or manager, but soon signed with <strong>Champion Entertainment<\/strong>, a management label directed by <a href=\"https:\/\/es.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Tommy_Mottola\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Tommy Mottola<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Then, we recorded a cover of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=0kbKIF39Vzs\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Marvin Gaye, One More Heartache<\/a>, and shortly after we signed with<strong> RCA<\/strong>. We toured, shot videos and included songs in the remake of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt0054469\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Where the Boys Are<\/a>. We spent a very good month in <strong>Miami,<\/strong> recording four songs for the soundtrack of this cult film in a spectacular studio.<\/p>\n<p>In August of 83, we played before 20,000 people on <strong>David Bowie&#8217;s tour.<\/strong> The following year our song <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=fb5PxOtfS8U\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Make That Move<\/a> slipped on the <strong>MTV<\/strong> lists.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-4305\" src=\"http:\/\/www.showmoonmag.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/Danny-B-Harvey-Guitar-Hero-Rockats.jpg\" alt=\"Rockats\" width=\"900\" height=\"777\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.showmoonmag.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/Danny-B-Harvey-Guitar-Hero-Rockats.jpg 900w, https:\/\/www.showmoonmag.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/Danny-B-Harvey-Guitar-Hero-Rockats-300x259.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.showmoonmag.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/Danny-B-Harvey-Guitar-Hero-Rockats-741x640.jpg 741w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>At that time, our manager had a decision that did not convince any of us: to change our name. That was when we moved to <strong>MCA. Secret Hearts<\/strong> was born with a new album in which I played all the guitar parts. It was the worst experience I lived recording a record.<\/p>\n<p>The album was also called <a href=\"https:\/\/www.discogs.com\/Secret-Hearts-Secret-Hearts\/master\/383032\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Secret Hearts<\/a>, but nothing was the same and the band broke up. I left the <strong>Rockats<\/strong> and was hired on <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Twenty_Flight_Rockers\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Twenty Flight Rockers<\/a> in 1986. During three years, I played with <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/GaryTwinn1?__tn__=%2CdK%2AF-R&amp;eid=ARAHRyel3W70Clik2Z2RTs4YnEN-5Uo4vEVrT1FlxIk0dJLvfcpTzIvdD7EdOtLnWj3QIzK5Or8qu2vf\">Gary Twinn<\/a>, Mark Laff <\/strong>of <strong>Generation X and \u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/jeff.vine.73?__tn__=%2CdK%2AF-R&amp;eid=ARDj0QoWTZ77d4Uf0NPmlRwP1YsVy8D-u9lgRvP33nC85pIUtKsKVT9sieLNqjgUhGS1w3VWf6qTA5AU\">Jeff Vine<\/a>.<\/strong> We were managed by former <strong>Clash<\/strong> manager, <strong>Bernie Rhodes<\/strong>. Tim had had a huge success with <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/The_Polecats\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">The Polecats<\/a> when he was just 15 years old. In <strong>Los Angeles<\/strong>, where I eventually settled, we contacted <strong>Slim Jim Phantom<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Slim<\/strong> and I had a friendship and mutual admiration. His band, <strong>Stray Cats<\/strong>, had taken the <strong>Rockabilly<\/strong> to another level. We also talked to my old friend <strong>Smutty Smith<\/strong>, who had shown his talent with the double bass with the <strong>Rockats<\/strong>. In the film appears three songs of mine and two of the <strong>13 Cats<\/strong>, which in 2001 are published as part of our first LP, <em>In the Beginning<\/em>. But 1999 was an intense year, in which I lived the beginning of another incredible adventure.<\/p>\n<p>I met <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Lemmy\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Lemmy<\/a> in <strong>England<\/strong> in the 80s. He was a great guy, very peculiar but very funny. In 99, we were at a time when we wanted to enjoy <strong>music<\/strong> with no pretensions. We got together with <strong>Slim<\/strong> to record a tribute to <strong>Elvis Presley. Johnny<\/strong> has been one of the guys I have most respected in the music industry. Away from drugs or the egos of other musicians, only the passion for music moved him. He was a great person with an enormous talent to create rhythms.<\/p>\n<p>Together with<strong> Lemmy<\/strong> and <strong>Jim<\/strong>, we recorded <em>Good Rocking Tonight<\/em> and <em>Viva Las Vegas<\/em> in 1999. It was a unique moment. Years later, they were published by Cleopatra Records as part of the <strong>Johnny Ramone\u2018s vinyl The Final Sessions<\/strong>. That was the true gem of <a href=\"https:\/\/es.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/The_Head_Cat\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Head Cat.<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>After the recording, <strong>Lemmy<\/strong> started playing old songs by <strong>Eddie Cochran, Johnny Cash or Buddy Holly.<\/strong> At that time, we decided to create a band of covers of those songs that fascinated us so much to play them in small venues and enjoy the essence of music. We called ourselves the Head Cats doing a pun on our bands: <strong>Mot\u00f6rhead, Stray Cats and 13 Cats.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Lemmy<\/strong> created <strong>Head Cat<\/strong> for fun and abstraction. <strong>Mot\u00f6rhead<\/strong> took him to be away from home for five months. It had an incredible infrastructure and they were very meticulous tours and with great responsibility. Deep down, he just wanted to play <strong>rock and roll<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h2>Small places, great experiences<\/h2>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-4311\" src=\"http:\/\/www.showmoonmag.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/Danny-B-Harvey-Guitar-Hero-Lemmy.jpg\" alt=\"Danny B Harvey\" width=\"900\" height=\"900\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.showmoonmag.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/Danny-B-Harvey-Guitar-Hero-Lemmy.jpg 900w, https:\/\/www.showmoonmag.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/Danny-B-Harvey-Guitar-Hero-Lemmy-60x60.jpg 60w, https:\/\/www.showmoonmag.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/Danny-B-Harvey-Guitar-Hero-Lemmy-300x300.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.showmoonmag.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/Danny-B-Harvey-Guitar-Hero-Lemmy-640x640.jpg 640w, https:\/\/www.showmoonmag.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/Danny-B-Harvey-Guitar-Hero-Lemmy-180x180.jpg 180w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>Lemmy<\/strong> didn&#8217;t care about the capacity, <strong>Head Cat<\/strong> had more fun than a <strong>Mot\u00f6rhead<\/strong> concert before 50,000 spectators.<\/p>\n<p>Within a few years, <strong>Mot\u00f6rhead<\/strong> got bigger, <strong>Lemmy<\/strong> got bigger and <strong>The Head Cat<\/strong> got bigger. We went to <strong>London, Berlin<\/strong> and other places in <strong>Europe<\/strong> and received a warm welcome. Everyone was shouting :<strong> It&#8217;s him, it&#8217;s Lemmy!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>I remember playing at the <strong>London Cat Club<\/strong> in front of 100 people one New Year&#8217;s Eve, opening the doors of the bar, walking down the street and listening to people&#8217;s cries. Going in the van, unloading, playing, everything was pure fun. It was great for fans to be able to touch <strong>Lemmy<\/strong> and see him in smaller places. It meant sharing an intimate moment with your idol.<\/p>\n<p>He spent the night sitting at the bar smoking, drinking or playing with a slot machine. There were no bodyguards around him. He was fully accessible to have a drink or chat with his fans. It\u2019s a funny story. She\u2019s <strong>Jerry Lee Lewis&#8217;s<\/strong> niece and was opening for her uncle on his 75th birthday, in the year 2000. It was a special day. At last <strong>Lemmy<\/strong> knew Jerry, one of his idols.<\/p>\n<p>There was Jerry&#8217;s daughter,<strong> Phoebe<\/strong>, whom we also met that night and who was representing her father at that time. She introduced us to <strong>Jerry. He performed in the <strong>Orleans<\/strong>. <strong>Eric Reacon<\/strong> went on stage and began singing with the <strong>Jerry Lewis<\/strong> band with him on the piano.<\/p>\n<p>There she was, on stage. I asked <strong>Phoebe<\/strong> who that girl was, and she replied: S<em>he is my skinny cousin. Do you want to meet her? <\/em>She\u00a0gave her my number. Two years went by until we were in the same city. Then we had our first date and we fell in love. We have been together ever since.<\/p>\n<p>Since I was with her, I have met her uncle a few times. I played with him on his 82nd birthday in NYC. A while ago I was with <strong>Jerry<\/strong> and his new wife, a wonderful woman with whom he is very happy. He is seen with more energy. He&#8217;s a cool guy.<\/p>\n<p>I have never played in his band. <strong>Kenny<\/strong>, his guitarist has been with him for 40 years. <strong>Buck,<\/strong> the other guitar, met him in the 60s. Now he has a new bass player because the original bass player was shot in a robbery in Memphis ten years ago. Shortly after, I started collaborating with <a href=\"https:\/\/es.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Wanda_Jackson\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Wanda Jackson<\/a>, the living myth of <strong>Rockabilly<\/strong>. In 2006, we set out to make a well-deserved tribute to <strong>Elvis<\/strong> by reviewing the fascinating stories of <strong>Wanda. Wanda and Elvis<\/strong> were dating in the 50s. It was a brief affair but left a perennial imprint on her. The album is called <em>I Remember Elvis.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>In 2003, <strong>Lemmy<\/strong> met <strong>Wanda<\/strong>. He was holding a bottle of <strong>Jack Daniel\u2019s<\/strong> in Amoeba Records on <strong>Sunset Boulevard<\/strong>. <strong>Wanda<\/strong> was recording <em>I remember Elvis<\/em>, her first LP in 15 years. It was a great experience to play with an artist of her size.<\/p>\n<p>For the production of Wanda&#8217;s album, I had hired Dallas singer <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lyndakay.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Lynda Kay Parker<\/a> to make the backup voices of <em>I Remember Elvis<\/em>. I discovered that we had many things in common and began to play together in different gigs. Both me and <strong>Lemmy<\/strong> became close friends with her and in 2006, we embarked on a <strong>Rockabilly<\/strong> project called <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=riyu0v7t2rQ\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Lonesome Spurs.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>We released a record on Cleopatra Records and played more than 900 concerts during the two years prior to my move to <strong>Austin<\/strong>. In <strong>Austin<\/strong>, I could enjoy music again in a more relaxed way. Our new work, <em>Walk the Walk, Talk the Talk,<\/em> was half live, half acoustic.<\/p>\n<p>Lemmy&#8217;s state of health made it very difficult to maintain our usual rhythm of concerts. Meanwhile, I produced the songs of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/TheDevilsDaughters\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Devil\u00b4s Daughters<\/a> and played with them. This duo broke into the<strong> rock<\/strong>\u00a0scene in 2012 through the voice of my wife, <strong>Annie Marie Lewis<\/strong>, and <strong>Mysti Moon<\/strong>. Their album <strong>Rebirth + Revelations<\/strong> came out that same year. One of them is the <strong>Gothbilly<\/strong>, a transgressive genre in which I immersed myself with the band <strong>69 Cats<\/strong>. Jirky69, of <a href=\"http:\/\/69eyes.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">69 Eyes<\/a>, is an Elvis-worshiping Finnish musician who plays Gothic Rock.<\/p>\n<p>With him and <strong>Chopper Franklin<\/strong>, the bassist of the <strong>Cramps<\/strong>, we formed <strong>69 Cats<\/strong> to have fun rocking. We soon released an EP called <em>Bad Thing<\/em> and a dark album, <em>Transylvania Tapes.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Two years later, bad news shook me. My great friend <strong>Lemmy<\/strong> passed away after a long illness. I toasted for him and still keep him in my thoughts. In the old days, you worked to get an agreement with the record companies and release a record that would be sold anywhere in the world.<\/p>\n<p>You could start a band, record the songs or play in a small club, a label signed you and the following year you became a <strong>Rockstar<\/strong>. That doesn&#8217;t happen anymore. Now, it is hard work. Bands earn more money selling shirts than records. There will be no benefits with the discs anymore.
